Copeland Council are organised another kite event similar to the one we had last year at Silecroft. This is definately on the 8th despite my recent moment of confusion!!
The event will have taster sessions and is sponsored by UKAirsports, Mutiny kites and Ennerdale Brewery. I also believe the Bailey Ground Hotel will be open for Ice Cream etc etc.
Preparation are almost complete and we are looking good to go!
Apparently the Ennerdale Brewery are going to donate some beer to local riders who help with the event!!
I also believe that Mutiny kites are sending one of their team riders and a bunch of demo kites. A rare event on the Cumbrian Coast so should be good to try this equipment, the pedigree of the designers behind the company is well known so they should be solid kites.
Get yourself down, it should be good, providing the weather is playing ball. Last year was excellent.

Kite Demo Day at St Bees Sunday 7th August |

We've been in discussions with Cumbria Wildlife Trust about a demo day for their beach art day on Sunday 7th August at ST Bees.
A few of us are heading down there to do a demo on the beach and hopefully do a bit of kitesurfing also. Gary from NWK is heading up the demonstration.

The forecast is for just enough wind to kite. Get down it should be good crack.

Here's the info from CWT
The date is Sunday 7 August. We have secured permission from Copeland to hold the event and will be organising everything else, from first aiders to catering to car parking. So I think all you need to do is turn up and do your thing!
The main feature of the day is the sand sculpture competition, which will be essentially from 12 - 2pm, followed by judging and prize giving. We have an official event starting time from 11am and we anticipate the day to wrap up around 4pm. Not everyone attending will be and sand sculpting, so you could really demonstrate whenever you liked, or have sessions running throughout the day. We will also have artist workshops, perhaps story-telling and face-painting, as
well as wildlife walks and rock pool rambling.

Copeland council in conjunction with Euphoria Extreme, UK Airsports and North West Kitesurfing are putting on a power kiting event at Silecroft Beach on Saturday 2nd October. There will be a kiting demonstrations, competition and free taster sessions provided by local powerkite and kitesurf instructors. All members of the public are welcome.
As many local kiters as possible are requested to attend the event. There will be prizes for the various competitions that are planned.
Let's hope the wind is with us!! |
